Longwy hand enamelled small vase 1940's

SKU: 188A1/11
£42.00Price

This small vase made in Longwy, France is ornately enamelled by hand and was produced during the 1940's.  The artist, or illuminator as they were known, is Denise Masson, who worked at the factory between 1946 and 1953. The backstamp is one used in the 1930's and 40's so dates this to late in that period. A small but beautiful piece standing at 4 inches in height.

The Iluminators were true artists in their own right for some.  The work consists of highlighting the design by laying a second layer of enamel (essence or water) on the first one to give a dimension and volume to the design.

Condition: The vase is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs, with the enamelling in perfect condition.
